 COOKIES, CAROLING, AND MORE CAROLING...

Cookies with the Messicks

Wowowow this was such a good week!! The holidays are flying by and its making me kind of sad. Christmas is just so much fun! First of all, I just want to say thanks so much to everyone who has supported me out here by sending fun Christmas packages! It brightens my day SO much when I get to hear from home, and it brightens our apartment too! We now have 4 Christmas trees (theres a picture below but the 4th one isn't hung up yet), and the stockings are all set up for the holiday. :)

As far as this week goes: basically we decorated a lot of cookies. The end.

No I promise we did more than that. But an older lady in our ward had us over to make cookies to give out to people we're teaching, and we ended up making 5 different kinds of cookies! And then the next day we helped the primary presidency decorate around 50 sugar cookies for an activity. I can definitely say my cookie decorating skills have gotten better since being out on a mission 😅

On Saturday we had the honor of going caroling with the McVeighs. I say honor because apparently they have been taking missionaries to go caroling in their neighborhood for over 20 years now! And let me just say: they take their Christmas caroling very seriously!  It was the most intense caroling I've ever done. 2 1/2 hours of Joy to the World and We Wish you a Merry Christmas.  A bit too long for my taste, but it was still so fun! Their neighbors look forward to it every year and they were really excited to see us. We got invited in a lot of homes and got to meet a lot of really sweet people. <3

We started teaching Shannon this week and she's awesome! We went over to her house because she requested a Bible study, and when we started talking about her back story it became very clear that the Lord has been preparing her for the gospel so much in her life. Sometimes missionary work can be discouraging, and then all the sudden a Shannon pops up and it makes every rejection worth it! We're really excited to meet with her again this week so I'll keep y'all posted.

On Tuesday we had an amazing dinner with the Jensons! We finally got them all moved in to their new house and they had us over an authentic Australian meal. (the husband is from Australia) After dinner we watched the Christ child video and the spirit was so strong! They aren't members and you could tell it really resonated with them. Also, the mom is ready to give birth to twins and she had a contraction DURING the video...pretty intense.  They gave us the sweetest gift baskets for helping them move in, and we just love them so much. ❤❤ I'm honestly so grateful for all the people I've gotten to meet so far. I've only been on my mission for 2 months now and I've met and created relationships with so many amazing people.

Christmas is just such a fun time of year.  I was pretty worried about coming on my mission so close to the holidays with homesickness and all, but I've felt so loved and supported out here from ward members in Brunswick to family members back home. I just feel SO blessed! Anyway I hope everyone has an awesome week, and just remember: if life ever gets you down, look for the blessings! It's all about your attitude!

Love and miss y'all so much! ❤
