Week 13, 1/4/2021
HAPPY 2021!!! Ok 2020 is over and I think majority of the world would say thank goodness! But.... I actually kind of liked 2020. It was not what I expected and the coronavirus kind of ruined some of it but I'm super grateful for everything I was able to experience this year! Anyway this was a great week because we were out of quarantine the whole time! We were half expecting to be put back into quarantine because turns out a lot of families in our ward have Covid now :( and sadly they are the families who really like the missionaries and who feed us pretty regularly, so hopefully they'll all get better soon!

We had a miracle this week: on Wednesday we had 5 lessons scheduled and only 1 of them canceled! You get pretty used to getting canceled on as a missionary so to get 4 solid lessons in on 1 day was such a miracle! We had a zoom call with a recent convert, we visited our other recent convert friend June, we taught Pinkie the plan of salvation, and we were able to meet Meg and Tobiah. Both of them have had really rough years and they both want them and their families to be closer with God. We were able to share a message with them about Jesus Christ being the light of the world and if we center our lives around him this next year, we will be able to have more peace and joy, even during our trials. I just really like this thought: we are going to have trials no matter what, living the gospel didn't mean you are exempt from hardships. But it does help you to have more joy with the knowledge that God has a plan for you and we have our trials to help us learn and grow. Its so fun to meet new people and they all said the would come to church! So Wednesday was a day of miracles! Sunday was a day full of less miracles since none of them actually came to church (besides the recent converts)....but that's OK, everyone has their agency, we'll keep meeting with them and get them to come when they're ready. :)
Thursday was New Years Eve and it was very different from holidays I've had in the past but still super fun! The Messicks (our fav family) invited us over for a game night and fireworks! We played games, drank way too much Martinelli's, watched fireworks, and lit some sparklers, it was so fun! We we went to bed at around 10:30 and then set an alarm for 11:59 and woke up just to countdown to midnight and then go back to bed. 😅 Missionary holidays can be pretty anticlimactic, but I'm so grateful that we have awesome ward members who make us feel like family out here!

On Saturday the Elders that we share the ward with had a baptism, so we were able to help with the program and be apart of that. We weren't teaching Aidan but it was still really cool to see a convert baptism. You could tell that he was really excited and his family was so proud of him. The gospel can change and improve peoples lives so much!
That's about it for this week! I'm going to be honest, I'm kind of relieved the holidays are over. Hopefully the covid spike will go down and things can go back to normal😬 but then again, what is normal? 😅 Anyway I love you guys so much, I hope y'all had an amazing New Year and you've already given up on all of your resolutions! Haha love and miss you guys!
