Week 22, 3/8/2021

Another good week here in Waycross!

Well actually I've got some good news and some bad news for y'all. I'll start off with the good news:

-Sis Pope and I were jamming out to some David Archuleta gospel tunes and we were coming up on some train tracks that weren't very well marked. (theres SO many railroad crossings and some of them don't have stop signs in front of them) Anyway as we were coming up on the tracks I didn't see or hear anything and suddenly she pointed and said, "ok there's a train there's a train!" Sure enough I saw the train coming out of the trees and I slammed on the brakes. It took us a few moments to process what could have just happened. If sis pope hadn't seen the train....it might have been too late by the time I noticed it or when it honked at us. But apparently heavenly Father still has some work for us to do! So that's some good news: sis Pope and I didn't get hit by any trains this week 😇

This was ALMOST US!!

-Mutual has started up again and we had a super successful activity this week! We made slime with all the young women so that was fun.

Its so great to be doing activities with the YW again!

-We found a new friend and it was super cool! We've been going to the public library a lot to use the computers for making Facebook videos. We've actually gone there so much that we've become friends with some of the workers. Anyway as we were leaving one day a worker named Conner stopped us and told us he wasn't LDS but he wanted to learn more about our faith. He said, "Do y'all know where I could purchase a Book of Mormon AND a Pearl of Great Price?" We were like....uhhhh ya! We're going to start having lessons with him next week at the library and we're so pumped! God really does prepare people and put them in our path.

So excited after we met Conner!

If I weren't a missionary and I had a fast boat and a slalom ski....😆😆😆

Ok now for the bad news:

-We were SUPER excited for Phoebee and Desmonds baptism this Saturday! Buuuut right as everything seemed to be going smoothly Satan pulled the covid card from up his sleeve. Apparently phoebee's brother tested positive for covid, so we might have to postpone the baptism until they can all get tested negative. :/ It's still going to happen, just maybe not this weekend.

Sushi date night

-So this is super sad, a little 12 year old boy who has family members in our ward had an accident this week and passed away unexpectedly. Everyone here in Waycross is either related or they know each other some how, so this event has literally rocked the entire town. His funeral is today and its being held at a football stadium because so many people are coming. Events like this really put life into perspective: it can literally end at any moment. Death is never going to be a happy occasion, its always going to be hard, but I do know that hope can be found through keeping an eternal perspective. Remembering that even though this life may seem to last forever, its not the end. This life is such a small part of our eternal existence. We had our premortal life, we're now living our mortal life, and one day we'll all get to live our immortal life together. I know that hope can be found through the knowledge that this gospel provides. Hopefully we'll be able to share that with some people this week and give them comfort in this hard time.

Anyway sorry to end on that sad note but I just want y'all to know that I'm so grateful for the peace and hope this gospel provides. Overall things are going real good here in Waycross! Hope y'all have an awesome week and pray that Phoebee and Desmond can still get baptized this weekend! Also pray that we don't have anymore near death experiences 😅

Fav scripture of the week: Helaman 5:47
