Week 25, 3/29/2021

Thats right I caught a fish today. Thats all you need to know. Goodbye.

Ok fine besides catching a fish this week we...

-got canceled on a lot (we had bad luck with that for some reason)

-Had a mission tour with Elder Matthew Holland!

-Went to some birthday parties

-Painted a house

So as you can tell the mission tour was definitely the highlight of the week! We had to do it over zoom unfortunately, but we had a meeting wednesday-thursday from 10-12 every morning. Elder Holland talked to us a lot about the Book of Mormon and how important it is. Our entire mission just completed a challenge to read the Book of Mormon in 65 days so it was super cool to discuss what we learned with a general authority. On the last day of the tour at the end of the meeting he said he'd like to call on 7 missionaries to bear their testimony of why they love the Savior. Immediately my heart dropped and I got super nervous: I knew he was going to call on me. Even though I've been on a mission for a while now and I constantly have to speak in front of people... I still hate it! But I knew that I would know what to say because there are SO many reasons why I love my Savior. He's given me everything that brings me joy and gives me purpose in my life! Anyway I bore my heartfelt testimony in front of elder Holland and the entire mission, and the spirit was so strong. So that was a cool experience. Turns out, doing hard and scary things just helps you grow :)

Celebrating Desmond's Bday

This is Sister Pope's last week on her mission so this next week will be full of goodbyes for her. The thought of her going home has made me reflect on my mission and everything I've learned. I've been out for almost 6 months now and that means I'm almost 1/3 of the way done! I still feel like a baby missionary lol. A mission is not always easy, but that's why its so rewarding. The only way you're going to grow in life is to get outside of your comfort zone. Sometimes I feel like I'm being stretched a little too far outside my comfort zone. But I do it and then I look back and I realize that all the sudden I've grown so much!

Sis Duke's Bday

Something else I've learned is what the gospel is all about. I knew the basics of what we as members of the church believe, but sometimes I feel like its easy to miss the point. The whole point of the gospel is to love others. In fact that's our whole job as missionaries is to love and serve others. It's not about how many people we can baptize or reactivate, its about understanding others, their needs, and what we can do for them that will really help them. The gospel has brought me so much joy and I know it can do the same for others. I know that by following the Savior, he will be able to fix every problem we have. I know sounds crazy right? But its true, as long as you are seeking him with real intent, then he will help you.

I don't hit my 6 months until April 7th, but there's been a lot of reflecting this last week so I just thought I'd share. :)

The rest of the week was full of good, hard missionary work. We woke up with every single day planned out to the minute, and then as the day would go on...slowly everyone seemed to cancel on us 😅 but thats how it is sometimes and you just have to keep going!

Hope y'all have an awesome sauce week, love you guys so much!

-Sister Bonny ❤
