Week 54, 10/18/2021

This week was just absolutely terrible, I hated every second of it. Being a missionary is the worst decision I have ever made and I hate it here. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Chick fila got mobbed by Mormons!

Wow that hurt my soul just to type that out! I'M KIDDING. This week was, of course, another amazing week!

-baptism!

-chickfila=miracles

-bashing central

-the usual rejection

A member gave us these lovely fairies

Ok I guess I'll start with the bad news, you can't be a missionary without a lot of rejection. On Tuesday, we went out to go visit some referrals we had gotten and every single one of them were home......and every single one of them also rejected us-yay! So ya that was super fun. I'm just out here getting a thick skin is all!

The other piece of bad news is... we are in BASHING central. I don't know why, but we get a lot of very opinionated people wanting to bash us for our beliefs here in Gainesville. Usually it's people who try and tear apart the Book of Mormon, and they always focus on the facts and lack of historical evidence that prove the Book of Mormon to be true. However, even if there was a heaping amount of evidence, these people still would never gain a testimony of the restoration.  Faith is the first principle of the gospel for a reason, we can't progress in the gospel without it!

Anyway we get those usual bashers a lot, but this week we met someone on campus who was probably the most unhappy man I've ever met. He was anti religion and he got mad at us for believing in God. He said that it's damaging to our souls to believe in something that we can't prove. He was bashing us for our beliefs, however they help us to be happier and more productive people, whereas he was clearly very unhappy and upset with the world. Like what Elder Oaks said in his most recent conference talk, "even if you don't go to Christ's restored church, just go to a church!" Anyway I just thought that was an interesting encounter and it opened my eyes to what my life might be like without a belief in a loving Heavenly Father.

District card tournament

Ok enough about the bashers! Now for the Chickfila miracle! Our entire district was at our apartment complex on Wednesday for a free Chickfila lunch they were hosting. Needless to say it was a lot of missionaries and we kind of stood out. ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it was meant to be because we met Roxanne.  She was very intrigued by who we are, so she started asking us all sorts of questions and she's interested in meeting with us! Proof that chickfila is Gods chicken! (Jk I don't like it thaaaat much, it's actually pretty average)

The highlight of the week was definitely the Elder's baptism. They baptized someone in the YSA on Saturday and we were able to have three people that we're teaching attend! They all really enjoyed it. Caroline is someone that we've invited to pray about baptism, she was able to come, meet more members, and she said she felt the spirit very strongly during the baptism. So that was a miracle! She has a desire to be baptized, but she's still looking for a big answer of if the Book of Mormon is true or not. Sadly, huge groundbreaking answers like the one Joseph Smith got are usually not how we will get our answers. We're trying to help her see that. But she's doing great and she already acts and talks like a member, so we've just gotta make it official!

Always love comp MOVIE NIGHT!

We got attacked by some huge dogs

We did Pilates at one of our dinner appointments

Sister Morley spiked a volleyball on one of our investigators so hard

This random girl came to church on Sunday for the first time just to "try it out" and we got so excited! After the meeting ended she started interviewing me and it turns out that she was only there for a religious history class assignment  ☹☹ ya she was super not into meeting with us lol.

That's about it!  Not a super spiritual message this time, but oh well.

Post baptism lunch

Love you all so so much! I'm so grateful for all the love and support y'all give me, it means a lot and is definitely what keeps me going on some days.

Have a grrreeeeaaaat week!
