Week 64, 12/27/21

MERRY NAVIDAD  🎄

Yes it was Christmas this week and yes it twas very good!

We had a very standard missionary Christmas and can I just say...it was WAY better than last year! For anyone who remembers, I was still in training and my companion and I got exposed to covid so we had to be quarantined for Christmas. It wasn't the best time haha, so this year was much better!

Here's all the holiday cheer we had this week:

-we went caroling with a new member in our ward to her neighbors

-Made lots of Christmas cookies and delivered them to people we're teaching and members

-delivered food to homeless people on Christmas eve

-Tried to volunteer at a soup kitchen on Christmas (they didn't need anymore volunteers so we played pickleball instead)

-shared the Christ child video with more families

-spent Christmas eve and Christmas eating food with some of our favorite members!

So yes this week was so good! But the best parts if the week were when we were serving others. It's really easy to turn inward during the holidays and be kind of sad that you aren't with your family or that it's not the holidays that you're used to, BUT when you turn outward and just focus on others you're so much happier! There's so many people who are alone on Christmas, or who don't have a home, or enough money to buy anything for their family. I think we should always be trying hard to help everyone feel the light of Christ but especially during Christmas. I found that brought me a lot of joy this year, even more than any presents.

Sadly Christmas has become very commercialized and obviously its not about the presents. On Saturday night we were asked to give talks on Sunday about Jesus Christ. EASY! So I prepared a short talk about some titles of Christ and who he is. Here's some of the things I talked about⬇️

He is:

our CREATOR-John 1: 1-3

The great JEHOVAH of the Old Testament- Isaiah 12:2

The firstborn SON OF GOD- Matthew 16:15-16

Our REDEEMER- Mosiah 15: 18-19

The MESSIAH of the New Testament- 2 Nephi 2:8

And the LIGHT and life of our world- John 8:12

I expounded on each of those titles and you can read the scriptures if you want. But I've loved spending two Christmases on a mission because I've been able to focus so much more on Christ, which is what Christmas is all about! I know that without His death there would be no reason to celebrate his birth. I know that he knows each of us perfectly because of the Atonement. And without it, our world would be so much darker. I also invite you to read the Living Christ, it's so good and testifies of his significant of his life so well!

Anyway, I miss you all so much and I hope y'all had an amazing Christmas. I'll talk to y'all next year!! 😆🎉🎉wahoo for 2022 (get ready for all the "next year" jokes)
