It's 20222222! And I am so excited for this new year! 2021 was wild; I am so grateful that I got to spend the entire year on my mission. Was it the best year ever? In a way no, definitley not...but in another way, yes it was the best year!

Let me explain: it wasn't the best because missions are so hard. Its hard being away from home and family for so long, it's hard working all day everyday, it's hard doing the exact same things everyday, and it's hard always having to adjust to meeting new people and living in new places so often. BUT it was the best year ever because I have never been happier since I've been on my mission. Yes the day to day grind can get difficult, but living the gospel and sharing it with others brings a joy that you can't get doing anything else. I feel like I understand the purpose of life now, and I have seen that understanding change people. I've seen others gain that amazing joy for themselves once they accept the gospel. Even just simply serving others brings me so much joy! I can't count the number of people I've helped move, paint their house, done yard work for, or number of hours I've volunteered at food banks, shelters, and thrift stores. I never thought serving could be so much fun. So in a way...yes it has been the best year! I know for a fact that I will not have any other year like it that's for sure. I will miss the crazy adventures of Georgia and the beautiful scenery in Florida that 2021 has brought. But as I said before: I am so excited for this new year!
Anyway enough about New years, I hope y'all were able to have fun and see a sufficient amount of fireworks. We heard a lot but didn't see any π₯²
In all honestly, this week was very long and weird and I'm glad the holidays are over. They just make missionary work difficult! But this week we:
-volunteered at a food bank
-taught a ms. Butts
-witnessed a drug exchange
-got chased by large dogs on our bikes in the middle of the woods
-got eaten alive by bugs while saying a group prayer with a crazy lady
-had a lesson with a very drunk person
-did a 5k park run in our community on New Years day
Aaaand yes those were some of the highlights. Hopefully I'll have more miracles next week, but honestly this week was just full of weird people and funny stories π

One thing I'm very happy that I got to focus on this year was studying the scriptures more than I ever have before. I was able to read the Book of Mormon twice, the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Saints, and Jesus the Christ. I learned so much about Jesus Christ and his gospel. I have such a strong testimony that we need all the scriptures to have a fullness of his gospel. We don't just need the Book of Mormon, or the Bible. We need both of them. I know that they are the words of God, and he gave them to his prophets to teach us and the things they wrote can be applicable to our circumstances today. (No matter how crazy the Old Testament can get π
) Anyway along with all your new years resolutions this year, don't forget to make some spiritual goals! Try to study some new scriptures that you haven't before. There is so much to learn about the gospel! It is a lifetime pursuit!
